Do you imagine yourself traveling through volcano avenue? One of the best attractions that Ecuador has to offer is the Cotopaxi volcano, located about 50 km (35 mi) south of Quito.
Cotopaxi is the second-highest summit in Ecuador, reaching a height of 5,897 m (19,347 ft). Some consider it the world’s highest active volcano; on a clear day, Cotopaxi is clearly visible on the skyline from Quito. The meaning of the Cotopaxi is “Neck of the Moon” in an indigenous language.
It was established as an ecological sanctuary with unusual opportunities to love nature and know about the importance of the paramo.
In the morning traveling south through the “Avenue of the Volcanoes” we arrive at the base of the mighty Cotopaxi we drive, the highest active volcano in the world at 5,897 meters (19437 feet)
If the weather allows us we can go up to the Refuge José Rivas to 4800m (15748 feet). We will enjoy beautiful scenery along this journey.
Optional lunch in a nice hacienda. Return to Quito for overnight.
