Explore the best spots of the Ecuadorian Andes, visit the amazing Cotopaxi Volcano and the Quilotoa Lagoon and experience Canyoning in the Baños de Agua Santa town, the Gate to the Rainforest.
We have combined in this experience a little bit of adventure and adrenaline, visiting the moorlands of Ecuador’s Andes and a stunning town which is famous for heart-pumping adventure sports and relaxing thermal springs Baños de Agua Santa.
Early in the morning, we will depart through the Avenue of the Volcanos to visit Cotopaxi National Park. – We will have a short hike in the National Park and your guide will explain about the flora and fauna in the area.
After visiting this magnificent part of Ecuador, we will continue our tour to the southwest of the moorlands’ unique landscapes in the Andes. We’ll arrive in Chugchilan, a typical mountain region village in Ecuador, for Lunch.
PM Free afternoon and activities (Optional Activities Horseback riding – mountain Biking, etc.), dinner and overnight. (L-D)
After breakfast, we will continue our journey to one of Ecuador’s most fascinating natural sites – Quilotoa Lake; over time, it became one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
You will have a spectacular view of the lake then, if you have good conditions, we will descend along varying terrains; the walk will take us 45 minutes to the shore of the lake to take photos and the ascent 1-hour walking approx. This is a hike that will demand some effort.
After this, we will continue our journey and have lunch close by until get to the next adventure, where a different and unique town – Baños de Agua Santa is waiting for us.
We will explore the Baños town, the gate to the Rain Forest. We will start our tour by visiting the impressive Agoyan hydroelectric Dam and visit one of the most amazing visitor sites of Baños, El Pailón del Diablo, well known as The Devil’s Cauldron, an impressive waterfall with a drop of approximately 80 meters (260 feet). After breakfast, at 08:00 am ready to have a Canyoning experience. After driving for 10-15min more or less, we arrive at the parking place where we found booths to put on our equipment. Our guide will check that everything is fine and will give us an explanation to learn basic but necessary techniques for the activity.
In practice, we will learn how to control the rope, how to walk backwards, how to jump and how to maintain balance in the descent. we finish with the practice, and we walk uphill for 10min to the entrance of the canyon; from where we start the exploration that will take us 2hrs on average.
We start with the small waterfalls until we reach the highest. We will rappel, and at the end, we find a natural slide by which we slide down to get out of the canyon.
After finishing our exploration, we walk back to the parking, where we will use our dry clothes and return to Banos.
Lunch and we will return to the city of Quito. (B-L)
